ABOUT WHAKAPAUPAKIHI

Aoteaora's newest te reo Māori musical

He whakaari reo Māori, he whakaari waiata hoki a Whakapaupakihi nā te whānau Tuari e kōrero ana mo ngā takahanga a te tokotoru a Iranui. Ko Taua-i-te-rangi tēnā rātou ko Mahaki-ewe-karoro, ko Hauiti.

Written and composed by the Tuari siblings, Whakapaupakihi is a musical adaptation of the feats and history of three eponymous East Coast ancestors known as the three sons of Iranui. They are Taua-i-te-rangi, Mahaki-ewe-karoro and Hauiti.

With a hint of Divergent, and a dash of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Whakapaupakihi, serves to tell the epic story of three brothers who fought against each other to maintain autonomy for their people.
